Tim Kent is an active and engaged father of two grade-school aged daughters. He has worked in in educational publishing for twenty years, and has also been an auto mechanic, a moto-cross racer and a traveler. He has sailed actively since the age of eleven, logging more than 80,000 racing and cruising miles on oceans and the Great Lakes. He has competed in single and short-handed distance races, and was first to finish and first in class in the 330 mile Chicago-to-Mackinac single-handed offshore competition. Tim is a multi-faceted, experienced sailor capable of assembling the team, gathering the resources, providing the direction, planning each leg, sailing the boat fast and repairing it on the fly.

He says, "It has been my goal to sail around the world, since I read about Joshua Slocum and Francis Chichester when I was a freshman in high school. The stars are aligned to make the dream a reality now"
